The Big Picture, Karen Kearns

Prior to becoming an author, Karen has worked in a wide variety of Early Cducation settings and child protection roles. She spent the early part of her career as an educator before moving into a director’s position. She then worked for the Department of Childrens Services as a field officer, later moving into a teaching role – first with the University of Newcastle as a lecturer in Early Childhood education and Care – before finally starting her own College with her 30 years of experience in the sector.

Karen has always been a strong advocate for the early childhood sector and is concerned about the ever-increasing demands and responsibilities placed on educators. She believes that the current early childhood ideology, while quite sound in theory, is becoming increasingly challenging to deliver.

Karen is regarded as an industry and educational expert. Her mission is to provide all stakeholders, students, employers and industry associations, with excellent training solutions using flexible training strategies, while sustaining the highest level of business ethics. Karen and her team at ICCC are committed to open, honest communication and to working collaboratively with all clients to ensure training outcomes that are timely, current and reflect best practice in vocational training.
